People need to understand that if software gets easy to build with AI and anyone can build it if they put in the required time, then software becomes like consulting. Most business owners acquire consulting and other agency services from someone they know really well and trust a lot. But for software, they still had to go to someone who did it really well because it's not something anyone can do, unlike agency services or consulting (doing it well is a whole different story). Similarly, businesses will start buying software from people they trust who are closer to them instead of from some no-name software company owner. This will lead to a lot of smaller software owners, similar to consulting and agencies, who will have lower MRR but will be able to provide more customization to their users. SAAS is about to turn into a consulting/agency play. Overall, SAAS revenue may rise, but most large SAAS will have massive drawdowns.
